Hello my name is bleubird, I’m from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I’ve been making music and touring the world for the last ten years of my life. Devoting my life to the pursuit of my passion, doing my best to entertain and inspire. I have a song called “Pimp Hand” produced by my good friends Astronautalis + Radical Face coming out on my new album “CANNONBALL!!!” on Fake Four Inc. in February 2012.
My friend Chris Hill of Digital Cypher Photography and I are attempting to shoot a video for this song.

In a world of instant gratification, digital downloads, instagrams, and even movies shot on iphones… We want to step back and create an organic moment in time. Free from the 1’s and 0’s of the digital age. A time when kung-fu and Curtis Mayfeild shared the same screen. When action stars were judged by the size of their Afro.
What we are attempting to achieve with the “Pimp Hand” video is a somewhat satirical homage to the funky, colorful era of 70’s Blaxplotaiton. To honor such great films and actors like Dolemite and Jim Kelly. Walk in their platform shoes, put ourselves in their place. Create like the greats such as Robert Clouse and Melvin Van Peebles. To stay true all these greats which bleubird and I have admired for so long, we completely threw out any thought or notion that we would do this in a digital format. Although these digital cameras have made amazing leaps over the past few years, they still very often lack that one element that draws you in and keeps you wanting more…. they lack soul. Film itself is alive, organic, unapologetic… just like the song itself. This song has so much heart and soul to it, I feel it deserves to be presented as such. That’s why we decided to go with super 8 film. To keep the raw gritty feeling that you get while watching such great 70’s films .
We have put together a team of industry professionals with a resume entirely too long to list here. They are all donating time and gear with open arms and excitement for this project. We have a vintage MINT CONDITION Canon 1014 xl-s camera that we had flown in from Germany. It’s waiting patiently to devour rolls upon rolls of film to create an unforgettable visual to a song that already stands on its own. Regardless of it’s decade. We have reached out and had meetings via email and phone-calls with the same film house that JJ Abrams used for his film Super 8! They are on board and excited to help make this vision a reality.
So what it all comes down to is, we need your help… With the most modest of budgets, covering only film cost, wardrobe, and hopefully some food; we hope to make a video that is as rich in tone, color, and spirit as the artist himself.
