The Milestone in Charlotte NC is exactly the type of club you would expect to find the door man playing and recording some gritty southern “folk noir” as he checks your ID and collects your admission. He’s a traveler, a storyteller, and a badass. An original musician that needs to be heard by more people, feel free to hoorang him for more music.

Charlotte surprised us with the Recessfest. We heard about it last minute and decided to roll into town, buy the $5 ticket…and take the ride. It was a superfun day of music in interesting venues, bike riding, eggrace+ninja games, an effing pizza party! and good times. I’ve since heard rumors of a winter version and I’ve got a special christmas sweater set aside.

It took me a few days to get episode 13 up because sony kept flagging it for the use of “the man in me” by Mr. Bob Dylan. I tried a few other songs but nothing else would fit. In the past when i used an Reo Speedwagon song youtube just provided a link to buy the song at the bottom of the video, this time however they kept annoyingly disabling the entire audio track…they gets none of this dance.

Richmond PD was pretty cool about letting a bunch of kids sing songs and drink beer on top of an RV in the street on a weeknight. Isaac was way cooler for singing those songs and making a difference with his life and his music. What’s with all these awesome rappers being able to sit down and play guitar!? I’m a fan…

My first trip to Richmond consisted of playing with a rad group called “Hot Chicken” in a bagel restaurant and staying at a seedy motel on the outskirts of town where i dined at a Sonic next to Kmart…which was pretty cool. This visit was way better. I’ve only begun to scratch the surface in this city and i need to return soon.

Harpoon Larry asked where I wanted to spend the 4th of July…I answered correctly.

Harpoon Larry and I visit the Body Shop in Slidell Louisiana for a tattoo or ten, those boys (and girls) sure know how to turn the party out! After night of binge drinking and stabbing each other with needles full of ink I manage to pull off a set in the parking lot at 3:30AM, then give Randy (the proprietor) a nice little bleubird souvenir on the thigh. Louisiana!
