Spent the day walking around the city with NOBS aka Twitter.com/ThePilotSon, hunting for records(him) and books(me). Ate a bacon wrapped hot dog with avocado+Sour cream, don’t be scurred! check out Crif Dogs http://www.crifdogs.com/menu you can build you own dog and drool at the pics. We were trying to chase down the elusive Edan for an interview but he had to save 7 babies from a burning building instead…all in all a day well spent.

FREEEBIRD#45-BRONX ZOO
Driving back to New York from Newmarket I hollered at Nobs and he suggested we hit the Bronx Zoo. This shit happened.
FREEEBIRD#044-Runnin Up on Ceschi Ramos
On my way back from Montreal I learned that Ceschi was going to be playing in Newmarket which was only slightly out of my way. The only logical decision was to go surprise him. I believe his first words when he pulled up to the Stone Church ad saw the freeebird parked in the dirt lot were “NO WAY”. Then after a hug he told me, “you know you’re playing too right”. Ceschi is my hero, he’s the Robin Hood of rap. When we tour together I hate taking the stage after him, what Ceschi is doing for not only rap music, but music in general is astounding. I am proud to know him, and call him my friend. I’m also super proud to be able to say that his label Fake Four Inc will be releasing my new album at the end of the year. Down here…this is our time.
FREEEBIRD#043-On The Stoop with Evil Dee pt1
Legendary New York hip hop DJ/producer Evil Dee takes some time out to talk with Nobs and I about engineering/DJ’ing/internet radio/serato/Hot 97/The Boot Camp Click/OGC/Black Moon/ Smif N Wessun and much much more. Nobs met him through digging and trading vinyl in NY, told him about freeebird and asked if he would be into an interview, he regaled us with so many stories I had to break it into two pieces. When “Enta da Stage” dropped in 93 it became a hugely influential album for me, seeing Evil scratching with his turntables on the floor in that abandoned building at 16, i never thought I would be sitting on his stoop in Bushwick, interviewing him for my blog. Word to Grimm Image, and Nobs! FREEEBIRD!
Freeebird #042 – 1HR at Union Square Park
What a place! I don’t know why I’m so drawn to Union Square. In my aimless wanderings around the city I always inadvertently gravitated towards the park…perhaps it was my first experience there…which includes a strange girl feeding me mushroom chocolates and Hemol spending his 21st birthday in Jail..but that’s ANOTHER story. In making this vid I didn’t feel quite right about including The Crowd with this random violence…but in the a documentarian spirit I wanted to remain true to the events. I also think it illustrates the polarity and awesome randomness of New York city. enjoy xoxoxoxoxo
Freeebird #041 – Heliodrome Montreal
Khyro is one of my oldest friends In Montreal, forever involved in something interesting. So naturally I had “his” group Heliodrome play a show in the RV in a Mile End Backalley during my short visit that weekend. We didn’t attract too much attention, just a few friends, a dog, and two curios Hasidic gentlemen. Twas a great evening of music and conversation and we miraculously didn’t blow the circuit with all of their electronics.

Freeebird #039 – An Afternoon with Kid Koala
Kid Koala took some time out his day to show me around his house/studio and talk about some of his latest projects. He is definitely my mom’s favorite DJ, and one of the most creative and energetic people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I once saw him sing and play keyboard for a greenhouse full of plants before he rocked a crowd of 2000. ALSO his generosity is UN-Matched, stay tuned for the contest…chalk full o’ ridiculous&hilarious!
Freeebird #038 – Coffee with Jacques
THIS IS THE FUTURE!!! Or at least as close as you’ve seen to the present time along this freeebird adventure. I’m in Seattle working real hard on my new album and finishing the Kid Koala episodes. Exciting things are happening!! Stay with me…
Freeebird #037 – Montreal Je T’aime
I was so ready to get turned away at the border that i was scoping out interesting campsites in upstate NY during the entire drive up. The immigration officer literally said, ” Where do you think you’re going with this thing?”. I simply told him, Montreal is one of my favorite cities in North America, and I’m going to get some footage for my blog. He gave me a bewildered look and waved me through. I was so unprepared that i was calling people from on the bridge like, “Hey…um so I’m about five minutes away from the city…what’s going on this weekend!” My favorite part had to be pulling up in front of Tonto’s house completely unannounced, he just happened to be walking out the door…the look on his face at the site of me coupled with his giant bird painting wrapped on the side of the freeebird was priceless. The fun ensued.
